On the last day of our week in Maine we went back to another part of the Acadia National Park. The Wonderland Trail area consists of a wooded area and the rocky Atlantic shore.
The trail takes you through a wooded area that is full of interesting trees and flat rock formations. The trail is relatively flat and not too many roots. There were many wildflowers and mushrooms to be found along the way.
But the best part of this area is the “beach”! The shore of Wonderland is covered with rocks. On most of the shoreline the rocks are colorful and rough shaped.
But there is an inlet where the forces of nature have rolled and rolled the rocks so that all are round & smooth!
Those rounded rocks were a trick to walk on but I had to get into and down on them to get these images. It is just incredible how the rocks have been worn down so much!
There are also areas where there are large rock formations with small plants managing to live in this difficult environment!
Although there were wild rose bushes in many places in Maine most had finished blooming and they were covered with Rose Hips. At Wonderland, the roses were still blooming!
Checkout this interesting area & trail for a good example of coastal Maine. For more info on the Wonderland Trail and Acadia National Park check out the website.

That is all for now!
