The town of Chloride AZ is in the north west corner of Arizona. It is believed to be the oldest continuously occupied mining town in AZ. Miners found silver, gold, zinc, lead & turquoise in the area.
We had some extra time on one of the days we were in the Southwest so we decided to add
Chloride, AZ to our travels. We were hoping to see some old buildings and meet some of the people. We were not disappointed. There are many older buildings still in use by the residents and they have a recreated town where they stage gunfights on the weekends! The little town has all the essentials of a mining town!
There were several businesses on the main street. While we were walking around a couple of folks pull into the Yesterdays Cafe and parked their horses out front!
There were flowers & wildflowers as well as cactus all around the town which added some color to the desert landscape.
After wandering around and taking some images we decided it was time to have lunch so we walked on over to Digger Dave’s Cafe.
Dave’s backhoe was out back along with a lot of other equipment, old & new. The cafe is full of antiques and old record jackets. They have the old juke box playing some old songs that took us all back to our younger days. Dave even came out & showed us his new guitar. He attempted to play it, but said he had had a late night so refrained from playing much! We had some great burgers, burritos and quesadillas! The ice cold drinks were especially appreciated.
As we left Chloride AZ we stopped by the cemetery, but it was closed but the cactus and wildflowers were blooming across the road so we got out to get some images before we hopped in the van and headed to our next destination!
If you are in northwest AZ I recommend a visit to Chloride!

That is all for now!
