On the last day of our week in Maine, after spending the morning in Wonderland (part 10), we had some time, so we decided to stop by an interesting garden we had passed several times in our travels around the area.  Asticou Azalea Garden is in Northeast Harbor.

It is a public garden, owned and conserved by the Land & Garden Preserve.  We pulled in to the tree lined parking lot, pulled out our cameras and

After taking the whale watching boat from Bar Harbor and eating a hearty lunch at Paddy’s  (see Part 4) we headed back to our home base.  We did some quick downloading (except for me as both of my hard drives were full- epic fail on my part!  – those extra CF cards came in handy) and then we all hit our beds.  As the next part of our journey around Maine was starting at 1:30am!   We awoke briefly in the evening to eat some dinner but went back to sleep until the appointed time.  We left in the dark of night

After getting stranded (temporarily) on Bar Island (see Part 2), you would think we would stay away from Bar Harbor, but no, we spent some more time there.   There are a lot of restaurants around the harbor and we tried several of them.   After we made it across the water that was quickly covering the sand bar between Bar Island and Bar Harbor we headed directly to the Fish House Grill for some lunch.  I had a Lobster tail (small) and it was yummy!   We came back a couple of days later
